I
am registering a new domain name. Who is the registrar?
We partner with OpenSRS and OnlineNIC to register domain
names
Do
I own the domain name?
Yes, you are the owner of the domain name. If you move
your domain name to another web host, you are still obligated
to pay DotXtra! the annual domain name fee.
Is
my domain registration information public?
Yes, the contact and registrant information on a .com, .net,
.org, and .edu domain name is public record in the universally
available Whois
database. This is something over which we have no control,
and a domain name cannot be registered without all the required
fields of contact information being complete. Other countries
and other domain registration authorities may have other policies.
How
do I manage my OpenSRS domain information?
Customers who purchased their domain name from DotXtra! can
manage domain ownership information in the Control Panel under
Account Info/Billing. The "Manage OpenSRS Domains" link will
only be shown if you have an OpenSRS domain or domain pointer.
I
now host my web site with a new company. How do I manage the
domain name I purchased?
Customers who originally purchased their domain name through
DotXtra! but have since moved to another hosting company can
change their DNS server information and domain ownership information
by logging into the Control Panel with the userID and password
assigned to them.
How
do I transfer my domain name to DotXtra! if it is registered
with Network Solutions?
Click on the "I am transferring a domain name that
I already own" button on the DotXtra! account signup form.
We will send a template to Network Solutions asking for the
domain name to be transfered. Network Solutions will then
send an email to the administrative contact for the domain
name asking them approve or disapprove the transfer request.
How
do I transfer my domain name to DotXtra! if it is registered
with a company other than Network Solutions?
Most other registrars such as Register.com use a login
name and password system to do transfers. Login to your account
at your registrar's web site and change the names and numbers
of the Domain Name Servers (DNS) for your domain name to our
DNS information.
Can
DotXtra! host a non-U.S. domain name?
Yes. However, you are responsible for registering the
domain in the country you wish. We can only register .com,
.net, and .org U.S. domain names. Click here for links to
every country's domain registration authority.
